Hugh Carder - Hugh Carder currently works for local government (don’t tell Peter Newman) after many years in the Commonwealth public service. He has spent the time searching, unsuccessfully, for that mythical public service job where everyone sits around drinking tea and doing nothing. Along the way he has gained a Diploma of Teaching, a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) and, most pleasing of all, his Broadcasting Certificate.
He is a new boy at Curtin Radio, becoming a volunteer around May 2007 and completing the broadcasting course in August of that year. Hugh has been known to act as producer for Neville Limpus on some Saturday nights but has started spending more time broadcasting in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings – and loving it.
Hugh has been married to Pam for almost 39 years and has four children and eight grandchildren. He is not impressed that he is getting some grey hair even though he is not quite sixty yet. He attributes the bulk of his hair colour to a refusal to grow up and the rest of his bulk to some large unnamed person who always insists on standing in front of him when he looks in the mirror.
Hugh loves the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's and appreciates the opportunity to be able to play it and listen to it on Curtin Radio. His musical tastes also include classical and folk music (as in many kinds of ethnic music), some of which he manages to unleash at times on an unsuspecting public.
