A Curtin FM success story - both sides of the microphone!
Josie first met Elizabeth Pye during a ‘Variety Club Bash’ to the Pilbara in 2004. Liz was very persistent in encouraging her to come in and join as a volunteer producer at the radio station. As soon as she walked into the radio station she was hooked! "It is just such an amazing atmosphere of kindness and co-operation amongst all the volunteer staff, and the general work ethic here is truly inspirational."
Encouraged and guided by Keith Taylor, Josie has now completed the on-air training course and can be heard every alternate Wednesday night between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
Josie is very happily married and has two adult children that she is extremely proud of, Bridie 23 and Brendan 22. Outside of Curtin FM Josie is a marriage celebrant and thoroughly enjoys composing individual ceremonies for couples wanting something different on their wedding day. She shares a love of patchwork with Elizabeth and adds "we are always bringing in quilts to the radio station for ‘show and tell’ often working on the same one for charities or gifts for special people in our lives."
Josie and her husband, Lyndsay enjoy adventure travel, and trek in the Himalayas as often as they can. In keeping with their love and spirit of community, they have adopted a Nepalese family and spend as much time as they can with them. "I am not sure which part we enjoy the most – the trekking or spending time with people who live such simple and yet enriching lives sharing their laughter and love in the most basic conditions, I think we all could learn a lot from their way of life.”
