Do something great

Curtin FM is a community station and our volunteers play an essential role in helping us continue to broadcast to our listeners. We offer a stimulating and rewarding professional environment for our volunteers.

Volunteering at Curtin FM requires the same commitment as paid employment so please consider whether you are available for a weekly three hour shift (minimum) for an extended period of time. All volunteers begin with the Station on a three month trial basis.

We periodically have volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

Producer

As a Producer you will be responsible for liaising with the presenter which involves researching any information he or she may require.  You will also be responsible for  answering a four line switchboard, handling listeners’ questions and comments and taking callers’ details for online quizzes.

Office Personnel

Assisting in the office requires computer literacy and competent office skills so you can effectively respond to or direct a range of queries and calls.

Requirements for volunteers

All Curtin FM volunteers need to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Computer literacy
  • Familiarity with office equipment (phones, technology)
  • Good people skills
  • Quick to learn
  • Able to follow instructions
  • Able to commit to at least one three hour shift a week
  • Able to work effectively in teams
  • Reliable
  • Proactive

We run Information Mornings for volunteers several times each year. Please register your interest and we will be in touch closer to the date of our next event. If a role becomes available prior to our next Information Morning, we will contact suitable applicants directly via email or phone.
